Sustainability is now a worldwide reality and needs innovative, interdisciplinary solutions to climate change, resource depletion, urbanization, energy transition and environmental degradation.

Design, engineering and architecture are key contributors to technologies and systems that drive sustainability, economic development and social health. The One Day International Conference on Sustainability in Design, Engineering and Architecture (ZHCON-2026) brings together stakeholders from academia, research, industry, government and student communities to share insights, showcase advanced research and address sustainable development challenges.

The conference aims to unite disciplines and promote technologies and practices that support resilient infrastructure, sustainable manufacturing, green energy systems and climate-responsive built environments.

About the University

Aligarh Muslim University was established in 1920, growing from the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College founded by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan in 1877. One of India’s leading institutions of higher education, AMU spans 1,155 acres and supports approximately 37,000 students through more than 300 academic programmes.

Its fully residential character creates a rich academic, cultural and intellectual environment. The university is home to landmarks including the Maulana Azad Library, Sir Syed House Museum, Strachey Hall and Bab-e-Syed, and continues to uphold ideals of scholarship, diversity and social responsibility.

Established in 1935, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University, is one of India’s premier engineering institutions. Named after Dr. Zakir Husain, former President of India, the college has a distinguished legacy of excellence in engineering education, research and innovation.

ZHCET offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across engineering disciplines. It is committed to interdisciplinary research, industry-academia collaboration and sustainable technological solutions for societal development.
